Kansas City, Fort Worth, Austin

Three days of driving, three cities in which to have fun. Sunday in Kansas City, MO provided us scrumptious pizza at the Flying Saucer Bar and a wonderful 13 piece jazz band to listen to at The Green Lady. Monday in Fort Worth did not have live music, but we did enjoy tacos on a patio overlooking Sundance Square. And Tuesday in Austin, we were able to get a room by the Capitol and within walking distance to the 6th Street entertainment. Dinner was with Sam's aunt, Alice, and her husband George at Threadgill Cafe where Janis Joplin would play on Wednesday nights before she was known. The evening was spent going to just 4 of the many music/bar venues lining 6th Street. Great music, great people watching. Anthony, an old marine vet, showed us how he could down a full bottle of Budweiser in 5 seconds without spilling or dribbling a drop, and then balance the beer bottle on its side on the top of his head while standing on one leg. He also got up on stage and sang a song with the band. Hard to leave such talent, but it being late, we headed back to the hotel shortly after 2:00. I have not been taking many pictures but hopefully will soon.
